As a largely self-taught artist, my goal has been to create a body of work, both representational and abstract, in which colour, and my handling of colour, portrays and evokes both form and feeling. I draw my inspiration from a variety of subjects, as each of the four Gallery sections depicts, and I work in a variety of media, soft pastel and conté being a favourite.
My usual approach is to explore a theme or subject over a series of works, sometimes numbering in the dozens, as with "The Book of the Sky" series. But regardless the subject, my goal remains the same-to employ what I term, 'Big Colour', colour whose purpose is to capture the eye and lift the spirit. My membership in the Windsor-based Association of Representational Artists (A.R.A.) offers the welcome opportunity to work and to exhibit alongside the region's best representational artists.
